Every winter, the families who could afford it killed a pig in order to prepare food for the rest of the year. This is the way it was traditionally killed. Opposite to what one can think this is not a cruel practice, because it is done at home so that the pig does not feel the stress of being transported in a truck, or being packed in the slaughterhouse.It only last for a few seconds.
